Engagement activities included surveys, written and supplementary submissions, and 23 engagement sessions with Indigenous rightsholders, Indigenous partners, community service providers, and people with lived experience of the child and family service system.
The Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) has analyzed what we heard through these engagements and is pleased to share a What We Heard Report and an Executive Summary. MCFD was able to immediately action changes to child and family service legislation through the introduction of Bill 38: Indigenous Self-government in Child and Family Services Amendment Act. Further work is underway across MCFD to continue the reform of the child and family services system based on the feedback we have received.
